Job Description
ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT PROVIDED RENT-FREE
Living on site is a requirement. One-bedroom apartment provided to employee at no cost in newer community. Employee responsible for maintaining electricity for apartment in own name. Property centrally located and near UTA Trax station.
The purpose of the Central Maintenance Technician is to support the mission of Housing Connect by providing a high quality of customer service to maximize our ability to fill vacant units, thus giving low-income persons in Salt Lake County access to affordable housing. Following HUD and Housing Connect policies and procedures in all customer service and maintenance functions does this, by working with other personnel to coordinate essential agency functions.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Unit Preparation
- Work with Supervisor and Property Managers to prepare, paint and turn units as efficiently and effectively as possible.
- Maintain, repair and upgrade those items and properties owned and/or operated by the Housing Connect.
- Maintain all exterior paintable surfaces
- Perform and coordinate dwelling maintenance and upkeep including but not limited to:
- Doors
- Electrical
- Floor Repair
- Furnaces
- Lighting
- Locks
- Mechanical
- Painting
- Pest Control
- Plumbing
- Roofs
- Structural
- Windows
Team Work
- Assist with grounds care, fence repair, etc.
- Assist with customer service and work orders.
- Provide coverage and assistance at properties.
Client Needs
- Ensure client needs are met by providing interpretation and translation services, when appropriate, with the use of agency approved resources.
On Call
- Provide scheduled on-call 24-hour coverage, as assigned.
- Provide snow removal, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Pesticide Applicator License. Must have within 30 days of employment.
- Certification of one year on the job related experience. Trades and crafts schooling desirable, but not essential, if abilities are adequate.
- Knowledge of proper use and care for all tools and equipment necessary to carry out the required work successfully.
- Knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken is required.
- Valid Driver’s License, as well as a good driving record.
MISCELLANEOUS OTHER
- Because this job requires working closely with many people, this position requires a person that is personable, congenial, dependable and thoroughly honest.
- A high degree of dedication and great flexibility in hours and work schedules is required.
- Ability to work and produce independently with minimal direction.
Starts between $15.00 - $17/hour DOE
Schedule: M-Fr 7:30 am - 4:00 pm - Rotating On-Call
